This frustration is why Sweet Share was founded. For over a year, we’ve been building a new way to advocate: by getting a seat at the table.

Our Mission

Sweet Share is a nonprofit organization with one single, focused mission: to create a better world for the entire Type 1 Diabetes community.

We know that to make real change, we have to tackle the problem from multiple angles. Our approach is built on three key pillars:

  1. Community Connections: We connect individuals and families with the vital resources they need to manage this disease and live full, healthy lives.

  2. Corporate Engagement: We work directly with businesses, helping them create more supportive and inclusive environments for their employees and customers affected by T1D.

  3. Strategic Advocacy: This is what makes our model unique. We give the T1D community a direct, powerful voice inside the very companies that impact their lives.

How Our Advocacy Model Works

You’ve asked how we get a seat at the table. Our solution is direct: we buy one.

When you donate to Sweet Share, your contribution is combined with others into our advocacy fund. We use that fund to acquire a small ownership stake in the key companies that have the biggest impact on the T1D community—drug manufacturers, insurers, and medical device companies.

To be clear, this isn’t traditional investing. Our goal isn’t financial gain; our goal is access.

This ownership stake gives us a legal platform to speak on your behalf. As part-owners, we can:

  • Engage directly with company leadership.

  • Propose policy changes to benefit patients, not just shareholders.

  • Vote on the decisions these companies make.

This model allows us to push for real, lasting change from the inside. We are advocating for what our community has been demanding for decades: more affordable insulin, better access to new diabetes technologies, and increased transparency for patients.

This model only works if it has your trust. We are committed to 100% transparency in everything we do.

A common question is what happens to any profits or dividends from our ownership stakes. The answer is simple: every cent is reinvested directly back into our mission. Those funds are used to strengthen our voice at other companies or to support our vital community connection programs. No individual profits from this.
